Brown Leaf Tips
  1. over or underwatering
  2. dry air (if the plant prefers high humidity)
  3. high temperatures/too much sun
  4. overfeeding
  1. check if the soil is too dry or saturated
  2. set on a tray of wet pebbles or mist the plant
  3. move to a cooler area and increase watering
  4. use less fertilizer

Holes in Leaves
  1. pest damage
  2. physical damage due to people or pest brushing past

Yellow or Reddish Leaves
  1. underfeeding

  3. cold drafts
  4. natural shedding of leaves
  1. use more plant fertilizer
  2. check if the soil is too dry or saturated
  3. move to a warmer area
  4. do nothing; the leaves of all plants turn yellow and fall off from time to time

Spots on Leaves
  1. dark brown spots = overwatering
  2. dry patches = underwatering
  3. pale spots = misting with hard water
  4. disease of pest damage
  1. check the soil is not saturated
  2. water more frequently to keep the soil moist
  3. use unsoftened water to mist the plant
  4. check leaves for disease and pests

  4. check buds, stems, and leaves for insect pests.

  1. check the soil is too dry or saturated
  2. repot the plant into a pot one or two sizes larger so the roots can absorb water more easily
  3. move to a cooler area and increase watering
  4. check the leaves and roots for insect pests

No Flowers
  1. too little light
  2. over or underfeeding
  3. dry air or soil
  4. pot too big
  1. move into an area with more sun
  2. use less fertilizer
  3. mist the plant if it likes high humidity and check if the soil it too dry
  4. repot into a smaller pot; some plants only flower when roots are restricted
